Blue Ridge Explorer: Sapphire Valley Evening

After returning to Sapphire, NC around 4 p.m., my mom and I enjoyed our final night in the Sapphire Valley taking in the scenery one last time.

Our condo at the Fairway Forest Diamond Resort, is located in the heart of the Sapphire Valley Resort, which includes pristine golf courses, recreation, walking paths and nearby Fairfield Lake.

Fairfield Lake is a picturesque mountain lake set against the stunning backdrop of Old Bald Mountain. It is the perfect spot for family recreation – from kayaking to paddle boats, swimming and loop hiking trail. The enchanting views invite guests to sit a spell in an lounge chair and stare into the scenery – nothing to do but enjoy the view.

Fairfield Lake adjoins historic Camp Merrie-Wood – a popular camp that has empowered girls since 1919. To learn more click here.

After relaxing at the lake just before dusk, we headed back to our condo and listened to the sound of birds chirping from the porch as we played board games.

As I recount my adventures in the southwestern Blue Ridge – I am ready to plan another getaway to Sapphire as soon as possible. It is a glorious spot – created by God’s graceful hand.

Stay tuned as we take a scenic detour on the way home, through the Blue Ridge Parkway…
