Elfreth’s Alley:
One of my favorite memories from my March 2025 trip to Philadelphia was meandering down the cobblestoned Elfreth’s Alley.
Located in the heart of Philadelphia’s Old City, Elfreth’s Alley is one of the oldest continuously inhabited residential streets in America. First settled in 1702, Elfreth’s Alley cobblestone street is lined with brick row houses dating from 1720 to 1836. It was named Elfreth’s Alley in 1750 after Jeremiah Elfreth who owned land on both sides of the alley. The majority the the historic homes are privately owned residences, with the exception of #124 and #126 which are fun by Elfreth’s Alley Association as the Elfreth Alley Museum. The museum is open April through November
